CHESHUNT RIFLE AND PISTOL CLUB

10m Air Pistol & Rifle The Air Section has a variety of disciplines to shoot ranging from 10m Air Pistol, 10m Air Rifle, field target & bench rest. Many section members shoot in the Hertfordshire 10m rifle & pistol leagues with great success over the years with some joining the county teams. All the 10m disciplines are shot in the newly refurbished range which now has Haring EL3 10m target changers with flood lit targets to approved specifications along 8 firing points.

Bench Rest

Bench rest shooting is a great way to make the most of your field target rifle during the winter months & rainy days. You will also find postal shoots open for you to join through the UK Association of Rimfire & Air Rifle Benchrest Shooting. Many have joined the association and enter into the postal shoots all year round. As you can see from the above this is not just limited to air rifle shooters but also the .22 shooters. So there is a large following of members from several sections that now shoot the bench rest discipline. If you would like more information on bench rest shooting you can visit www.benchrest22.org

Field Target

Field Target is usually setup on the 50m range outside on a Thursday evening depending on the weather & light conditions. Air rifles of .177 or .22 calibre are used to shoot targets that simulate shooting in the field (pigeon, rat, rabbit & squirrel). Targets of a variety of shapes are used which, when knocked over by hitting a small area, are easily up-righted by pulling a cord rather than having to go down range to stand them up. This enables shooting without having to stop to reset the targets. It is shot outside primarily in the summer in fair weather conditions

As a new member there are a variety of club guns available for you to shoot these disciplines if you do not have your own. All new members are welcome & if you are interested to see what the club has to offer to you sign up for one of our guest days. See contacts for email address.

Cheshunt RPC HFT Competition

The competition started on a Sunday in September with a few clouds & the odd spot of sunshine. The course of fire was set out in two parts each of which had a total of 45 points up for grabs. By the start of the competition the sun was hiding behind the clouds & the wind had picked up blowing shots all over the place. Any one could win this year & it was a matter of judging the wind or waiting for the wind to drop before letting the pellet race towards the target. The clouds allowed the first few shooters to clear the course before dropping the rain on the rest with a good few gusts mixed in. Damp & cold the last few shooters finished the course still with a smile after the longest HFT shoot ever. This was the best course ever so far & tested the shooters stamina & endurance to the limits. As the winner will set out next years course of fire it will be interesting to see what could be added to spice things up.

Part 1 – the 50m range with target set out to 50m

Part 2 – The 100m Range but shooting across the range at target in the vegetation, on the embankment & in the trees.
