Modern firearms and cartridges all owe their development to the early firearms and, of course, to gun powder. The most well know of these are the flintlock and percussion pistols, muskets and shotguns all using black powder and muzzle loading.
In the eighth and nineteenth gentlemen practiced their skills in shooting galleries and by hunting. Today at Cheshunt our black-powder shooters practice their skills with modern replica and original – Matchlock, Flintlock and percussion pistols as well as revolvers.
The club has a long-established Black Powder section. The interests of members in these arms varies, and currently includes both the collection and shooting of a wide variety of pistols and some long-arms.
